This cityscape detail painting is inspired by a street light on a quiet street in Pasadena. The ornate, moulded globe is unique in its design: stacked high like a ballerina's bun. I was intrigued by the complexity of the globe and decided to use a soft color palette. The result is a calming painting which possesses a quality of translucence and stoic femininity. 

The gilded lantern reflects light and gives the impression the light is "turned on."
