The Beverly Hills art SHOW
October 15 – October 16
10 am - 5 pm
Beverly Gardens Park
Beverly Hills, California 90210
(center of the block on Santa Monica Blvd. between Canon and Crescent)
This weekend is the famous Beverly Hills Art Show! I am delighted to be one of the featured artists and subsequently, my work has been used in copious amounts of their print and online advertising. While the piece seen above has sold, I have many others to show you!
Spread out over four blocks, the Beverly Hills Art Show is recognized in the Southern California region for both it's scale and quality. The range of art works and luxury items available at this particular art fair makes a great opportunity for art collectors of all investment ranges to find work they truly love and want to live with. The artists are well curated with a balance of styles from mixed media to glass art, traditional painting, contemporary painting, sculpture, drawing, jewelry, ceramics, photography, watercolor and more.
I find myself frequently amazed by the work of the artists I share the park with at this event. The lovely surroundings and cocktail gardens make for a great day out! I hope you will come visit us in Beverly Hills!
For more information, visit the art fair's web page.
My version of an underpainting is moody. I can't wait to share these paintings with you in a couple weeks! Is anyone else getting tired of white everything? Color is complex but powerful.
I’m in love. So that’s great! (This is not new news. But we are fairly private people, so to you, maybe I just vanished into thin air?)
Of course, I have another lover who is pretty annoyed with me right now. Actually, it’s not entirely clear that he’s noticed I wandered away. Sorry art career as I know you, I adore you, but you don’t keep me warm at night. It’s a classic scenario. Things were ticking along at a good pace… Lots of shows… Many sales. Great friendships. A social life that outpaced my inclinations. Press. Lots of press. And then along came M.
I wasn’t looking for someone who lives elsewhere. In fact, I was so work-driven that I had to be beaten over the head to see who was standing in front of me. The rest is history and I have become an expert in packing for weekend get-aways. Traveling for love means that I am not out pounding the pavement as much as I used to. I have to allocate my time differently. In order to be true to the relationship of my heart, I choose to adjust my other relationships accordingly.
But Art – I won’t quit you! I wrestled with the notion of launching an online shop for my paintings for well over a year. The fear was real. You see, there is a rift between gallery and self representation. It’s like oil and vinegar (so much more flavorful than water). I get it. Mostly. Sort-of. But I don’t think it’s necessary. (More on that later.) Regardless, my loyalty is to making art and thriving. When I succeed as both an artist and a person, I can provide more value to my gallery, collector and personal relationships. I owe it to all of us to find a way to make it work.
Selling my paintings on line was the first and most public step in the process of self representation, and so far, well, it’s going quite well! I’m taking some business classes and expanding my on-line presence. It is an exciting time and also a ton of work! Building a business from scratch WHILE hand producing considerate, quality paintings I am proud of is a little mind boggling. (Bless galleries for this reason, among many others.) I’m happy to say that sales are steadily climbing though. Yay!
So thanks for sticking with me on this journey! If you are not already on my email list, please sign up for early access to launches of new series of paintings and exhibition announcements. Also, please consider sharing my work with your friends, associates, clients and families. I could very much use your help as I grow!
And of course, check out my online shop! THIS IS WHERE THINGS ARE HAPPENING
PS - I cannot wait to introduce you to M. He’s a wonderful photographer and a kind, generous and ambitious human. I’m am over-the-moon grateful to have him in my life.
I'm not sure if the look of this leaf means something terrible for my rose but look at those colors!
Many thanks to the Beverly Hills Art Show for using my painting to promote the upcoming show! This piece has sold. Do I need to paint something in magenta now? Hmm.
Living the Dream
For me, being an artist is more than painting alone in my studio. I am inspired by other artists, off-beat adventures and spectacle. I curate exhibitions, collaborate on large public art installations, am an occasional color consultant and interior designer and sometimes I sculpt. I seem to do a lot of writing, but that's just business. I live an art-filled life. Thanks for coming along for the ride.
